Round and oval tables

Everyone faces everyone. Conversation crosses the table without effort. Round and oval tables suit square rooms and open-plan kitchen-diners where the table sits centrally. They seat the same number of people as a rectangle of equivalent length but without a defined head position — a more relaxed, informal dining dynamic.

Rectangular tables 

Rectangular tables suit rooms with a clear length and work efficiently alongside a bench on one side. They are the most common dining table shape for a reason — straightforward to place, straightforward to seat, and available in the widest range of sizes and finishes.

Oval tables — the length of a rectangle, the softness of a round

Oval tables sit between the two. More surface area than a round, softer edges than a rectangle, no defined head position. They suit near-square rooms where a rectangle would feel too directional and a round too compact.

Skovby — Danish precision-engineered extendable dining tables

Skovby have been making extendable dining tables in Denmark for decades. Their tables are defined by precision-engineered extension mechanisms and leaf storage built into the underside of the top — no separate storage needed. Available in solid oak and walnut finishes across a range of rectangular, oval and round forms. 8–10 week lead time.

Aimee, Manny, Fernwood and Mix and Match — bespoke made-to-order solid oak

Pod's own bespoke dining table range is built from FSC certified solid ash or 100% solid European oak. Choose your size, leg style and wood stain before production begins. Wood stain samples are available in the Cork showroom or by request before committing to a made-to-order piece. 8–16 week lead time depending on the table.
