Ethnicraft N701 Modular Sofa — Build Your Own, Designed by Jacques Deneef

Start small, or go big — the N701 is yours to build.

The N701 is a low, deep sofa made of parts: single seats, a two- and three-seater, corner inserts and a footstool that clip together, so you assemble the exact shape your room needs. Begin with a single seat and add to it, or start with a full corner layout — either way, it's the same relaxed profile and stitched detailing by designer Jacques Deneef, and it can change as your room does. Build it your way.

Build your own — modules sold separately, clips included.

Made to order in 4–6 weeks.

Available in a range of colours and materials. Free delivery across Ireland. See it in our Douglas, Cork showroom, or talk to us about planning your layout.

Payment: pay in full, or start your order with a 50% deposit — half now, and the balance invoiced only once your sofa's ready to deliver.

Why the Ethnicraft N701 Modular Justifies the Price

The N701 modular is the sofa you don't have to get exactly right on day one. Because it's built from clip-together modules — seats, corners and a footstool — you configure it to your room now and adjust it later if your space or needs change. It's the same low, deep, well-made design as the fixed N701, by the designer Jacques Deneef, just built your way. It's the kind of sofa people comment on when they visit — not because it shouts, but because it's clearly well made and well chosen. Buy the modules you need, add more over time, and end up with a sofa that fits your room exactly.

Ethnicraft N701 Modular Sofa - 1 to 3 seater

How does the modular N701 work?

It's built from separate modules — single seats, a two- and three-seater, corner inserts and a footstool — that clip together (the clips are included). You choose the modules that make up the shape you want, from a single seat up to a large corner layout, and you can add to it later.

Can I start small and add to it?

Yes — that's the point of it. Because the modules are sold separately and clip together, you can begin with what you need now and add pieces later to extend or reshape the sofa as your room changes.

Who designed it?

The N701 was designed by Jacques Deneef, an Antwerp-based designer. Its low profile and stitched detailing have made it a recognisable piece in contemporary interiors.

What sizes do the modules come in?

A single seat (80cm), a two-seater (140cm), a three-seater (210cm), a corner insert (91cm), a round corner insert (120cm) and a footstool (70cm). Combine them to build your layout — see the dimensions table above.

What's it made of?

The frame is teak finger-joint and plywood; the cushions are polyurethane foam; and the cover is a hard-wearing structured fabric (84% polyester, 16% acrylic), rated to 100,000 Martindale rubs, Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified and PFAS-free.

Are the cushions removable?

No — the cushions and covers are fixed rather than removable. Treat spills promptly and follow the care guidance below.

Is it for indoor use?

Yes — the N701 is designed for indoor use only.

How long does it take to arrive?

The modular N701 is made to order, so it's built to your configuration — approximately 4–6 weeks from order to delivery.

How does payment work?

Two ways: pay in full at checkout, or start with a 50% deposit. With the deposit, half is taken today and the balance is invoiced only once your sofa's ready to deliver — nothing more comes off in between.

Do you deliver?

Yes — we offer free delivery for any orders over 399 across the Republic of Ireland. You can also see it in our Douglas, Cork showroom. Feel free to check our Delivery Policy

How to Care for Your Ethnicraft N701 Sofa

Please follow Ethnicraft's own care guidance:

  • Treat spills immediately — blot with a clean, dry white cloth, working from the outer edge in. Never rub.
  • For dust or crumbs — wipe with a clean cloth or soft brush; don't rub.
  • Vacuuming isn't recommended — if you do, use the lowest suction and a soft upholstery attachment only.
  • Don't use chemical products on the upholstery.
  • The cushions and covers are fixed — they aren't removable for washing, so treat spills promptly and clean in place.
  • If pilling occurs, don't worry — it's a normal characteristic of upholstery fabric, not a defect; remove it with an anti-pilling machine.
  • Keep out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.
  • For extra protection, Ethnicraft's Indoor/Outdoor Textile Protector and Cleaner are made for these fabrics.
  • For the base and legs — dust with a soft dry cloth; don't drag the sofa, always lift to move it.
  • For indoor use only.
