Description

The Ethnicraft Spindle Bed -90cm/160cm/180cm x 200cm

The bed that takes its design from something that has always been in motion. The Spindle collection was inspired by the traditional spinning wheel — and you can see it in the headboard. Perfectly aligned vertical spokes, slightly tapered legs and rounded edges give the Ethnicraft Spindle solid wood bed frame a profile that is immediately distinctive without demanding attention. Designed by Nathan Yong, a Singapore-based designer who strips away superfluous detail to capture the poetry of a product in its most reduced form. Available in solid oak, varnished oak — black and reclaimed FSC teak — each reclaimed teak piece carrying its own unique grain and story from the original timber.

Lead time: 4–6 weeks.

Free delivery and assembly across Ireland. Please contact us to confirm current availability and whether the Spindle bed is on display in our Cork showroom. Wood and finish samples are available so you can see and feel all three finishes before ordering.

About the Designer — Nathan Yong

The Spindle bed was designed by Nathan Yong — a Singapore-based designer whose work challenges the existential questions of objects. Rather than adding superfluous detail, Yong captures the poetry of products through a process of reduction — stripping away what is unnecessary to reveal what is essential. He runs a multi-disciplinary design consultancy spanning graphic, industrial, interior and architectural design alongside strategic planning in product development and manufacturing. The Spindle collection reflects this philosophy — a solid wood bed frame reduced to its most considered form.

Ethnicraft Spindle Solid Wood Bed Frame — FAQs

What wood types is the Ethnicraft Spindle solid wood bed frame available in?

The Spindle solid wood bed frame is available in three finishes across two wood types. Oak versions — oiled oak — natural and varnished oak — black — are built from solid laminated oak sourced from Serbia. The reclaimed teak version is built from solid laminated reclaimed teak sourced from Indonesia, left unfinished to preserve the natural character of the wood. The reclaimed teak version carries FSC Recycled 100% and SVLK certification. Please contact us to confirm current finish availability before ordering.

What is reclaimed teak and why is each Spindle bed unique?

The reclaimed teak version of the Spindle solid wood bed frame is built from solid laminated teak that has been previously used — sourced from Indonesia and carrying FSC Recycled 100% certification confirming responsible sourcing. Because each piece of reclaimed teak has its own grain, tone and history, no two reclaimed teak Spindle beds are identical. Product imagery is for indication only — your piece will carry its own unique identity.
