The River is the corner sofa for a house that's actually lived in.
It's a proper L-shaped corner sofa with one thing that matters in a real house: the covers come off. Loose cushions, a relaxed loose fit, and a sprung seat with high-resilience foam, so it's soft to sink into and easy to live with. Fully modular underneath, it builds left or right to fit your room, in two L-shape sizes, with a choice of leg finishes and a matching footstool. Fabric, made to order.

What makes the Villa River different?
It's the corner sofa you can keep clean. The covers come off, which most corner sofas can't manage — so in a busy room, with kids or pets, the River holds up where a fixed-cover sofa just wears. It's soft to sink into, and it's made to order to your room in two L-shape sizes.
Can I have the corner facing left or right?
Yes. The River builds left or right facing, so the L-shape suits whichever way your room runs. Tell us which and we'll build it to suit.
What sizes does the River come in?
Two L-shape configurations: the L Shape, and the larger L Shape XL with an extended chaise longue. If you need something beyond these two, the River is modular underneath. See the other Villa River options.
Are the covers removable?
Yes. The River has loose cushions, a loose fit and removable covers, so covers can be taken off for cleaning. Care requirements vary by fabric grade — feel free to ask our team before ordering if washability is a priority.
What are the cushions filled with?
The seat is sprung with high-resilience foam and an fibre ball and chopped foam mix; the back cushions are a fibre-ball and chopped-foam mix.
Is it a soft sofa?
Yes — it's built to be soft to sink into, with a sprung, high-resilience foam seat and a fibre over it.
What legs does it come with?

What fabric options are available?

Is there a footstool?
Yes — a matching footstool is available to order, in two sizes.
Is the Villa River certified?
Yes. The Villa collection carries FSC certification — the wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests and traceable through production. Upholstery fabrics are Oeko-Tex® certified, containing no allergy-promoting or harmful chemicals.
How long does the River take to arrive?
Approximately 8 weeks from production to delivery.
How does payment work?
You can pay in full at checkout, or choose the 50% deposit option. With the deposit, you're charged 50% today and the remaining 50% is invoiced to you before delivery — you won't be charged the balance until your River is ready.
Can I see the fabrics before I order?

The River is a full L-shape, so the size, the orientation and the fit all matter before you order. Book a free consultation and we'll map it to your room, check it fits and leaves space to move around it, and work through the fabric with you. In the Douglas showroom, where you can sink into it and feel the fabrics, or by video call to start.
To get the most from it, it helps to have a few things ready:
- Your room measurements — height, width and depth of the space the sofa needs to fit, plus walkways around it
- Photos or a scan of the room — so we can see what we're working with
- An idea of how the room gets used — who's in it and how you like to relax
- Anything you're matching to — paint samples, flooring samples, existing wood or fabric
- Your inspiration — Pinterest boards, saved images, anything that shows the look you're after
We'll take you through the fabric grades, the two sizes and the orientation, and map the River to your room before anything is ordered.
