Our free consultations at the Douglas showroom in Cork exist for exactly that reason — to give you dedicated time with someone who knows this stuff, in a space where you can sit in the sofas, see how the dining tables look under real lighting, feel the wood finishes, handle the fabrics, and talk through your room before you commit to anything.

What Happens During Your Consultation? You will spend time with one of our team — someone who has helped hundreds of Irish families find the right piece or the right set for your room. Together you will work through your space, your lifestyle, and what you are looking for — and leave with a clear recommendation you feel confident about.
Most consultations take between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on the complexity of your project. Whether you are furnishing one room or redesigning an entire home — we work at your pace.
What to Bring — And What Not to Worry About
Your room measurements: height, width, and depth of the space you are working with. Do not worry about being exact — a rough estimate is enough to start and we will help you work out the rest. If you have not measured yet — come anyway. We can work around it.
A few photos of your space: taken on your phone is fine. Seeing your room helps us understand the light, the layout, and what is already working — so we can advise around it rather than in spite of it.
Any inspiration you have gathered: Pinterest boards, magazine pages, a colour you keep coming back to — bring whatever has caught your eye. The more we understand your taste, the closer we can get to what you are imagining.
Fabric or olour samples from the rest of the room: Paint swatches, existing fabric, wood tones — anything sharing the space with your new sofa or your new furniture. Getting the combination right matters and having these to hand makes it easier. No samples? Not a problem — we have a full range of fabric grades and colour options in the showroom.
None of this is essential: If you walk in with nothing but questions — we will start from there. The consultation exists to help you, not to test you. Our team has seen every room size, every budget, and every brief. Whatever you bring is enough.

No appointment necessary. If the team is available they will sit down with you there and then. For dedicated consultation time — booking ahead is recommended.
What to Expect After Your Consultation: After your visit you will have a clear recommendation — a specific sofa or range that suits your room, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you decide to go ahead, a 50% deposit secures your order and your lead time begins from that point. Worth noting — a deposit applies to selected made-to-order pieces. Our team will confirm the details for the piece you have in mind. If you need more time to think — that is completely fine. There is no pressure to decide in the showroom.
