Choosing Your Ethnicraft Chair or Stool

• Dining chairs — standard seat height for dining tables, around 46–51cm. The Bok, Unda, Casale, PI and Risu sit here, in solid wood or upholstered.
• Counter stools — for kitchen islands and counters. The N3 and Osso Counter Stool are counter height, both with a footrest.
• Bar stools — taller again, for bar-height surfaces. The Osso, N4 and Bok bar stools.
• Low & occasional stools — the Osso Stool is a lower stool for a dining room, living room or bedroom rather than a counter.
• Outdoor — the Bok Outdoor, Jack, EX1 and Osso Outdoor ranges are built in teak for the garden, several with quick-dry, removable cushions.

What is the difference between a counter stool and a bar stool?

A counter stool is lower, for standard kitchen counters and islands; a bar stool is taller, for bar-height surfaces. Ethnicraft make both — the bar stools are taller. Send us your counter height and we'll confirm which suits.

What seat height are the Ethnicraft dining chairs?

Standard dining height. The Bok sits and the Unda — both suited to a standard dining table. Each chair's height is on its own product page.

What wood are the chairs and stools made from?

Solid wood — oak on most indoor designs, teak on the outdoor pieces and some stools. The N3 is solid oak; the Osso stool is solid teak. Wood and finish are listed per product.

What finishes are available?

It varies by design — natural oak, oak black, oak brown and teak appear across the range, in oiled or varnished finishes depending on the piece. Ethnicraft's finish naming is oiled oak — natural, varnished oak — black, and so on. We hold finish samples in our Cork showroom.

Are any of the chairs upholstered?

Yes. The Bok Cushioned and the Unda are upholstered indoors, and the outdoor Jack comes with quick-dry cushions. Most other designs are solid wood.

Which pieces can go outdoors?

The Bok Outdoor, Jack, EX1 and Osso Outdoor are built in teak for outdoor use, several with quick-dry, removable cushions. Teak weathers naturally outside.

Which chairs and stools pair with an Ethnicraft dining table?

Do they come assembled?

Most Ethnicraft chairs and stools require no assembly. Delivery details are on each product page. We offer free delivery for orders over €399 across Ireland. 

Are the materials safe and responsibly sourced?

Ethnicraft state their oak is sustainably sourced and processed in Serbia, and their teak carries FSC certification. Several upholstered pieces meet Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and are noted as PFAS-free. Specifics vary by product — see the individual page.
